The Château Batailley is a franch estate of Bordeaux. It is a fifth classified growths of Medoc classification of 1855. Château Batailley is one of the jewels of the Castéja and Borie-Manoux families. The property name comes from the battle that took place in 1453 on the vineyards and at the Chateau. It was during the100 Year War.
During this war, the French took back Château Latour which was occupied by the English and which marked the end of British rule in the Aquitaine region. In the seventeenth century, vineyards were planted on this land rich in history. The Château park was designed in the nineteenth century by Napoléon III's landscape architect. Batailley is a classic Pauillac, well built with a dark ruby color, and pronounced notes of cassis.
The best vintages wines of Château Batailley are 1959, and 1982 wines. 2000 vintage wines and wines of 2009 are excellent. Finally, the grands crus classés of 1990 and grands crus of 2005 are exceptional.
