Information on the vintage 1970 red Bordeaux:
A highly important vintage in many ways: it's fine quality and it's timing provided a jump start to the wine boom which was already hotting up. There was every reason to believe that it wa going to be a highly satisfactory vintage, and as important in its way as the 'millennium' vintage three decades later.

His last challenge was to raise the rank of Mouton Rothschild Premier Cru classified in 1973 after 20 years of fighting.
