In the northern Medoc, the aptly named Chateau Beau Site (beautiful site), faces south overlooking the river. This enviable location opposite that of its prestigious neighbor Calon-Segur established on the near ridge. As noted in the "Feret," Beau-Site is one of the oldest properties in the prestigious commune of Saint-Estephe, noting that its wines are "distinguished, large, elegant, comparable to those of its illustrious neighbors". Composed mostly of Cabernet Sauvignon, the blending of the fabulous 2000 vintage gave birth to fantastic Bordeaux wine  Attractive fruit flavors opens the symphony of aromas, prior to the violet, leather and exotic essences. It does this by mouth with elegance and a good chewy texture. This classic Medoc has no lack of presence, length, nor expression. Wonderful with seasonal dishes, it asks, as many great wines do, to be decanted to fully express itself.
