The Pouilly-Fuisse La Croix Vieilles Vignes has mouth-watering aromas of honeysuckle blossoms and sugar-coated minerals. On the palate, this medium-to-full-bodied wine is rich, expressive, and broad. La Croix's silky-textured flavor profile is composed of stones and traces of butterscotch and tangerines. It should be at its peak between 1999 and 2005. Committed to low yields and late harvesting, Jean-Jacques Robert, one of the Maconnais' finest winemakers, has crafted four outstanding 1996s.
If the '95s were good, the '96s were even better, wines with extra dimensions, about as good as white burgundy can get.
