Expert's opinions

Information on the 1978 vintage Red Burgundy : Outstanding. Thanks to high extract and tannins, the best are still drinking well and some have yet to attain their peak.No good burgundy cellar should be without a bottle or two!

Beautiful dark color. The nose is not very aromatic on opening. It will need a little time to express itself. But the palate is present immediately. The wine is thick and rich. Powerful, perfectly balanced. It fills the mouth. An undeniable vintage effect. 1978 is definitely a great year. This is neither a grand cru nor a premier cru. But this wine is truly excellent. Bravo to Maison Charton.

Jean Chartron, Puligny-Montrachet, Côte de Beaune Founded in 1859 by the master cooper Jean-Edouard Dupard, Domaine Jean Chartron has seen five generations succeed, all concerned with the development and prosperity of the prestigious vineyard, as well as the good management of the commune. Today, it is Jean-René Chartron's son, Jean-Michel, who takes over, and for this astute winemaker, passionate about perfection and rigor, the objective is for the wines of this Domaine bearing his name to be the very quintessence of the Burgundy he loves so much.
