Appellation Bonnes Mares
Bonne Mares appellation
The appellation of controlled origin (AOC) Bonnes-Mares is above all a Burgundy Grand Cru, one of the most famous in the region. The Bonnes-Mares appellation is located in the municipalities of Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle in the Côte de Nuits wine region in Burgundy.
Covering an area of 16 hectares of vines, more extensive in Chambolle-Musigny than in Morey-Saint-Denis, it is one of the largest vintages in Burgundy. The grape variety harvested there is Pinot Noir. The wines offer a bouquet of violets, undergrowth, leather, spices ... Rich and sometimes a little wild, they require several years of cellar sleep. Indeed, the wines of the Bonnes-Mares appellation have good aging potential for 10 to 20 years on average and 30 to 50 years for the greatest vintages.
The best vintages are : 1929, 1933, 1937, 1945, 1947. The wines of 1949, 1952, 1959, 1961 and 1966 are excellents. Finally, the vintage 1969, 1971, 1976 and 1989, 1990 are exceptionnal.
