Our opinion on the 1984 vintage: a vintage hit by hurricane Hortense

1984 is definitely a small vintage in Bordeaux. Late flowering and a winter marked by cyclone Hortense. The consequences were terrible for the winegrowers: ruined harvests and the inability to harvest the Merlot, which altered the quality of the wines. Even Pétrus only produced 20% of his usual harvest. It is not catastrophic, but the 1984 vintage remains very average in Bordeaux.
