1978, a vintage which promised to be difficult but which nevertheless finished superbly. On Bordeaux it is the warm and sunny month of September that saves the harvest after a cold and wet season. The wines are seductive and of good guard such as the Château Lafite Rothschild 1978, the Château Smith Haut Lafite 1978, Château Giscours 1978 and Château Vieux Château Certan 1978. In Burgundy the vintage is excellent: very balanced wines and excellent aging. For the Rhône wines this is one of the reference vintages. Beautiful wines and very long guard.
