The growing season started off most encouragingly. A warm spring, with, by May, vegetation well in advace of normal. The difficulties started with an exceptionally long and uneven flowering followed by a poor summer. September was, however, fine and warm, the harvest taking place in good conditions from the 25th. The crop was well below average and the quality, though better than originally anticipated, simply not of an overall level of excellence to demand, and get, prices 50% above those of the magnificent 1959s.
