Château Cardinal de Villemaurin
Cardinal de Villemaurin
Château Cardinal Villemaurine combines in its name the memory of Cardinal Gaillard de la Mothe, nephew of Pope Clement V, and that of an observation camp established during the Arab invasion of the 8th century. Today, you can still see the ruins of the Cardinal palace near the property. Notable is the quote from Cardinal de Sourdis, whose favorite wine was Château Cardinal-Villemaurine and who declared it: "King of wines!" Jean François CARRILLE also owns Châteaux Clos Villemaurine in Saint Emilion, Caillou les Martins in Lussac, and Château de Fussignac in Petit Pal
