Château Château Clarke Edmond De Rothschild
Château Clarke Edmond De Rothschild
In the 12th century, Cistercian monks from Vertheuil Abbey planted the first vines. Château Clarke definitively acquired its name in 1818, when Sir Tobie Clarke bought this land. Baron Edmond de Rothschild became the owner in 1973. Benjamin and Ariane de Rothschild have now taken over the estate. The grape variety composition of Château Clarke consists of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 70% Merlot, planted on Eocene limestone and clay-limestone soil (6,060 vines/ha). The pruning method is double Guyot. The wines of Château Clarke: The nose is particularly expressive and charming with notes of very ripe fruit and a fine, discreet oakiness of cedar, vanilla, licorice, cocoa, and roasted almonds. The frank and flavorful attack is followed by a rich, fleshy, and balanced palate. The finish reveals the fruit and aromatic complexity appreciated on the nose, with a beautiful length suggesting strong potential.
