Our opinion on the 1912 vintage: a satisfactory vintage overall

The 1912 vintage was of average quality in the Bordeaux region. Weather conditions were variable, with a warm May and a cool August. The red wines of Bordeaux are tender and delicate, but do not age well. The red wines of 1912 in the Burgundy wine region are highly sought-after today. Long forgotten or even neglected, red wines are straightforward in taste, fruity and full of character.

Unfortunately, in Burgundy, frost compromised the vintage, rendering the wines uninteresting.

In Champagne, yields doubled, but quality declined. Only Piper-Heidsieck is offering a 1912 vintage.

Finally, in the Rhône Valley, the 1912 vintage is average, and like the 1912 Bordeaux wines, does not have great ageing potential.
