Our opinion on the 1911 vintage: a satisfactory vintage. In Bordeaux, the wines of the 1911 vintage are generally good, despite the multiple threats of rot, heat and bad weather that weighed on the vineyards. The appellations that fared best were Pauillac, Saint Julien, Margaux, Pessac Léognan and Saint Emilion. In Burgundy, clement weather during the harvest favored the crop. Climatic conditions similar to 1906 produced excellent, full-bodied, fragrant wines in the 1911 vintage. In the Rhône Valley, the 1911 vintage was a great success. The 1911 vintage Champagnes are also a great success. The harvest was small, but great champagnes were produced. Indeed, 1911 was one of the best vintages since 1874.
