Château Grand Ormeaux
Grand Ormeaux
The Grand Ormeau vineyard, oriented north-south, spans an area of 14 hectares, located on the upper part of the Lalande de Pomerol appellation. The grape variety, predominantly Merlot (64%), combined with Cabernet Franc (18%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (18%), is perfectly adapted to the soil of old gravel and sand on a subsoil of clay and iron deposits. Resulting from draconian selection processes, the following are marketed: the grand vin Château Grand Ormeau, and the second wine under the name Chevalier d'Haurange. The clearly stated ambition is to produce at Grand Ormeau one of the best wines of the appellation, if not the best. Like all great wines, when young, Lalande de Pomerol wines must be aerated and therefore decanted before tasting. To enjoy them in all their amplitude and fullness, one must know how to wait. Then, proud and charming, the Lalande de Pomerol wines reveal all their harmony, balance, and complexity. They remain excellent table companions for red meats, game, or character cheeses.
