Since 1936, the Vosne-Romanée appellation has been a controlled designation of origin (AOC). The appellation only produces red wines made from Pinot Noir. Vosne-Romanée is above all a village appellation, but also produces 24 Burgundy Premier Cru. Located in the Côte de Nuits wine region in the communes of Vosne-Romanée and Flaguey-Échézeaux, the vineyard covers more than 154 hectares, of which 57 hectares are devoted solely to the viticulture of its premier vintages.
The appellation then includes one of the largest vineyards in Burgundy. The Vosne-Romanée appellation wines have a beautiful ruby or even garnet red color. On the palate, the wines are fruity: ripe fruit on a spicy background with notes of strawberries, raspberries or blueberries. On the palate, velvet and distinction are at the rendezvous. Generally very voluptuous wines.
The wines of the Vosne-Romanée appellation are of medium aging: 5 to 15 years of cellar sleep for a bottle.
