Vosne Romanée appellation

Since 1936, the Vosne-Romanée appellation has been a controlled designation of origin (AOC). The appellation only produces red wines made from Pinot Noir. Vosne-Romanée is above all a village appellation, but also produces 24 Burgundy Premier Cru. Located in the Côte de Nuits wine region in the communes of Vosne-Romanée and Flaguey-Échézeaux, the vineyard covers more than 154 hectares, of which 57 hectares are devoted solely to the viticulture of its premier vintages. The appellation then includes one of the largest vineyards in Burgundy. The Vosne-Romanée appellation wines have a beautiful ruby ​​or even garnet red color. On the palate, the wines are fruity: ripe fruit on a spicy background with notes of strawberries, raspberries or blueberries. On the palate, velvet and distinction are at the rendezvous. Generally very voluptuous wines.

The wines of the Vosne-Romanée appellation are of medium aging: 5 to 15 years of cellar sleep for a bottle. The 1934, 1943, 1959, 1962 and 1990 vintage are excellent. The years 1954, 1954, 1961, and the vintages 1985, 1989, et 2009 vintages are very great vintages. The appellation has also produced exceptional vintages such as 1949and 1952as well as wines from 1971. Finally, the best vintages in the Vosne-Romanée appellation are 1928, the old wines from 1937and 1945and the 1978vintage.
